How to Subtract Numbers in Microsoft Excel?

There are 2 types of subtraction actions, you can perform in excel sheets:

 

1. Subtract Numbers in a Excel Sheet Cell:

Use the – (minus sign) arithmetic operator.

 

For example, type the following formula in a cell:

=20 – 5

= 15

 

2. Subtract Numbers in a Range:

 

Use the SUM function

Adding a negative number is the same as subtracting.
